Moving a post through its stages - Pacten Guides
Open any post from Marketing → Posts and you see six stages in a strip across the top: Brief, Content in, Direction, Editing, Client review and Published. The stage the post is on carries a Baton tag. Click any stage to look at it. Click a stage’s date to change it. Dates work back from the day it goes out.
The bar at the bottom of the screen is state aware. It shows the stage, who holds it, what comes next and one button that moves the post on. When the button is greyed, the bar tells you why. A conversation panel sits beside the post at every stage. It opens on the team thread, except at Client review, where it opens on the client thread.
THE STAGES
What happens at each one
And the button that ends it.
- Brief. The document that says what to make. Attach it four ways: Upload a document, Paste a link, Pick or write in Doc Hub, or Two lines, right here. Under Who, and when give each stage its people. Tick Yes, send the brief to the client for approval first if the client signs off the idea. Button: Ask the client for content. It is greyed until a brief is attached, and until the client approves it if you ticked that box.
- Content in. The footage arrives. Add it with From Library, A link or Upload for them, or let the client upload on their link. Button: Content received. Greyed until something has come in.
- Direction. Say what to make of the footage. You get a shot order, notes to the editor pinned on the picture, and the brief alongside. Button: Direction is ready — hand it to the editor.
- Editing. Add the cut with Upload or From Library. Each upload is the next version. Write the caption, press Hashtags if you want Pacten AI to add some, and pick the networks. A carousel shows its frames, which you can reorder. Button: Send the cut for review. Greyed until there is a cut.
- Client review. The client gives a verdict. See Getting content and a yes from your client. Button: Schedule it, or Approved — schedule it once they have said yes.
- Published. See Publishing a post.
Going back
On the Board, dragging a card back to an earlier column reopens that stage. Once a post has gone out its editing is closed. Use Duplicate to run it again.
Frequently asked questions
- Why is the button at the bottom of my post greyed out?
- The bar says why in one line. At Brief it needs a brief attached. At Content in it needs something to have come in. At Editing it needs a cut. At Client review it waits for the client or for you to record their yes.
- How do I attach a brief?
- At the Brief stage choose one of four ways: Upload a document, Paste a link, Pick or write in Doc Hub, or Two lines, right here.
- How do I change a stage date?
- Click the date under the stage name on the strip at the top of the post. Dates work back from the day the post goes out.
- Who is each stage for?
- Brief and Direction are the Strategist, Content in and Client review are the Client, Editing is the Editors and Published is the Coordinator. Under Who, and when on the Brief you can assign members to each stage.
- Can the client approve the brief before we make anything?
- Yes. At Brief tick Yes, send the brief to the client for approval first. Asking for content then waits for their approval.
