Pricing what you sell - Pacten Guides
An item can sit in your register perfectly well with no price on it — and most do, when a catalogue has been imported rather than typed in. The catch is what a missing price stops.
WHAT A BLANK PRICE BLOCKS
Three things, all of them silent
Nothing warns you. The item simply does not appear where you expect it.
- It cannot be quoted — the item will not come up when you are building a quote.
- It cannot be put on an order — there is no figure to put on the line.
- It will not show on your public page, however visible you have set it.
You will find pricing under Supply → Inventory, on the item itself.
GETTING THROUGH A LONG LIST
You do not have to finish in one sitting
Most workspaces meet this as several hundred rows at once.
Price the things you actually sell this month and leave the rest. The setup checklist keeps count, so you can come back to it without having to work out where you stopped.
Why your checklist says 3 of 330
It counts active items only, and it is finished when none of them are missing a price. Archiving something you do not sell is a perfectly good way to shorten the list — an archived item is deliberately not for sale, so it is not counted.
A price is not a commitment. It is the starting number on a quote, and whoever raises one can change the figure on the line. A rough price beats a blank one, because blank is the only value that blocks the item entirely.
