Requesting time off - Pacten Guides
Your leave lives in three places that always agree: People → Time & Leave (your balances and requests), Account Settings → Time & Leave (the same, next to your daily timesheet), and the Time off tab on your own record in the Directory. Use whichever is closer — it is the same request underneath. If you approve leave for others, Time & Leave shows you the team view instead, so use one of the other two doors for your own requests.
1
Check your balance
Each leave type shows how many days you have left this year. Days awaiting approval are counted separately — pending days are neither spent nor free.
2
Request time off
Pick the type, the start and end dates, and add a note if it helps your approver. Working days are counted for you, and the form tells you if the request would exceed what you have left.
3
It waits as pending
Your request appears in your list as pending and lands in your approver’s queue at the same moment. You can cancel it any time before it is decided.
4
You are told the decision
Approved: your balance is drawn down and you get a notification. Declined: your balance is untouched and the decline includes the reason if one was given.
Who approves
People managers and admins see every pending request under People → Time & Leave → Approvals. If HR logs leave for you (say you were away sick and phoned in), it is recorded as already approved and shows who logged it.
Unlimited types
A type marked Unlimited (often unpaid leave) has no yearly allowance to count down — requests against it are never blocked by a balance.
