Sharing a folder with a client - Pacten Guides

Share is where the links you give clients live. It used to be called Drop. Open Marketing → Share and press Share a folder, or press Share a folder on the client’s own page. Either way a sheet opens with four questions.

1
Which folder
Pick a folder from the Library, or make a new one named after the client.
2
What they can do in it
Choose one. A shared folder: they see what is in it and send files in. A drop box: they send files in and see nothing, not even their own earlier uploads. Review only: they see the cuts and give verdicts, and nothing goes in. A box lets them download the originals. You can set a closing date.
3
Who can open it
Pick Only the people I name, Anyone with the link or My team. Anyone with the link can be forwarded. Think twice for footage. A team link cannot be opened by the client.
4
How they get it
Email or text it, or choose Just give me the link. The button reads Share and email or Share and text with their first name, or Share and copy the link. If you start from the Share page, pick the client first.
One folder, one link
A folder the client can already open cannot be picked again. Reuse the link from their page, so nobody wonders which link you sent.
THE SHARE PAGE
Four views of your links
Switch with the tabs at the top.

Each link has actions. Change access, Open as they see it, Copy this link, Text them and Tell them what’s new reach the people on the link. Close the link stops it opening. Their files, folder and contact record all stay. A closed link can be reopened with Reopen the link by giving it a new closing date. Delete for good removes the link and who it was sent to. The folder and every file stay.

Frequently asked questions

What happened to Drop?
It is now called Share. Open Marketing then Share for the links and for what clients sent.
How do I stop a client opening a link?
On Share, open the link's menu and press Close the link. Their files and contact record stay, and you can reopen it later from Closed by giving it a new closing date.
What is the difference between a shared folder and a drop box?
In a shared folder they see what is in it and send files in. In a drop box they only send files in and see nothing at all.
Can a client see other clients' files?
No. A link opens one folder, and the choice of who can open it is yours.
Can I let a client only approve a cut?
Yes. Choose Review only. They see the cuts and give verdicts, and nothing goes in.
