Why a team member cannot see an app or a figure
“It is not showing for them” has six different causes in Pacten, and they look identical from the outside. Work down this list in order — the first four resolve almost everything.
1
Have they accepted the invite?
A pending invite is not a member. Under Settings → Access, someone listed under Pending invites has no access at all yet.
2
Is it money?
Amounts, prices and financial documents need the finance or legal label, whatever their role. An admin without it sees the screen and no numbers — the commonest false alarm on this list.
3
Is the app switched off for them specifically?
A per-app exception can remove one app from one person’s launcher entirely, without touching their workspace role. Check the app access section on their member page.
4
Is their role high enough?
A viewer is read-only. A collaborator cannot reach billing, roles or workspace settings. If the missing thing is governance, the role is the answer.
5
Is the app enabled for the whole workspace?
If nobody can see it, it is not a permissions problem. A locked app shows Request access on the Apps grid — ask, and the Pacten team turns it on.
6
Are they in the right workspace?
If someone belongs to more than one workspace, it is worth confirming which one they are looking at before changing anything.
Check the label before you change the role
Raising someone’s role to fix a money problem does not work, and leaves them with more access than they needed. If the missing thing is a figure rather than a screen, it is the label.
Still stuck
If none of the six explains it, log a support request with the person’s name, the exact screen, and what they expected to see. That last detail is the one that usually resolves it fastest.
Frequently asked questions
- Why can't my staff see Finance?
- Work down four checks: have they accepted the invite, is it figures rather than screens (the finance label), is Finance switched off for them by a per-app exception, and is their role high enough.
- An app is missing from their launcher entirely.
- A per-app exception set to none removes an app from that person's launcher without changing their workspace role. Check the app access section on their member page.
- Nobody in the workspace can see an app.
- That is not permissions. The app is not enabled for the workspace — it shows Request access on the Apps grid, and the Pacten team turns it on.
- The page loads but it is completely empty.
- An empty financial screen is almost always the finance or legal label rather than a bug: the figures are withheld rather than the page hidden.
- They say they have no access at all.
- Check whether they actually accepted their invite. A pending invite grants nothing until it is accepted.
- I raised their role and it did not help.
- Then it is not the role. Money is guarded by a label, and a per-app exception can override a role for one app — check both.
