What happens when you send a contract - Pacten Guides
When you click send
Pacten locks in what is being signed
Pacten saves a copy of the agreement as it stands, so every signer sees the same text. The contract moves to Out for signature.
What each signer gets
An email with their own link
- The email comes from Pacten Contracts with your logo and colours. The subject is “Signature requested” with the contract title.
- It shows who the agreement is between and the date to sign by, with a Review & sign button.
- Each link belongs to one person and lasts 30 days.
On the signing page
Read, then sign
1
Read the agreement
The signer sees the document in your branding, with a summary of the organisation, their role, the contract value and the dates.
2
Sign
They choose Type or Draw, enter their full legal name, tick the consent box and click Sign Document.
3
See confirmation
They see “Signature Recorded” and can download their copy. Pacten records the time, IP address and their consent with the signature.
When the last person signs
The contract is executed
- The contract moves to Executed and the signed date is set.
- Every signatory gets a “Fully signed” email, and your workspace owners and billing email are told it is signed.
- If the contract belongs to an engagement, the engagement moves on and billing starts. See the guide on getting paid against a contract.
- If the client already has an invoice waiting, their confirmation page shows a Pay now button.
Changing it after sending
Until anyone signs, you can still edit. Saving a change cancels the links already sent, and Pacten warns you first. Send it again to give everyone a fresh link. After the first signature, the contract is locked.
