Finding your way around Finance - Pacten Guides
Finance is the widest app in the platform. It is organised into five groups, and almost every question about it is really a question about which group to open.
Finance is gated more tightly than anything else in the product. Seeing it requires BOTH of the following, and holding one without the other is not enough.
- A workspace role of owner or admin.
- The finance label on your member record — set under Workspace Settings → Team, by opening a member and editing their labels.
- Receivables — money owed to you. Accounts, Invoices & docs, Payments in.
- Payables — money you owe. Vendors & bills, and Inventory where goods are involved.
- Cash & banking — Cash requests and the Bank register.
- Accounting — Ledger & journal, and the Chart of accounts.
- Reports — profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow and the aging reports.
Overview sits above the groups as the way in. Setup sits below with the Catalog, Recurring billing and Settings.
If your workspace invoices under more than one legal entity, each document belongs to one of them, and lists can be filtered by entity. Anything raised without one belongs to the main book — your default business.
A workspace with a single business never sees any of this. The filter and the entity chips only appear once named entities exist, so the screens stay simple until you actually need the complexity.
